Do you know what is the difference between a Bookkeeper and an Accountant?

A bookkeeper is primarily concerned with accurately recording financial data while an accountant is involved with interpreting and reporting that data.

You will find most accountants will affiliate themselves with a good bookkeeper, either in house or an external source, and visa versa

We are a team of bookkeepers who have a passion for accounting and bookkeeping and a desire to provide a service that can help business owners save their precious time and gives great value. Each business needs are different and we like to tailor our services to suit your requirements.

The business was originally formed by Teresa.

Teresa is a successful Tax Accountant with her own business and if she had a pound for every time she was asked if she does Bookkeeping she would be very rich!

In 2019, Laura joined the management team. Laura is a AAT level 3 qualified, with a specialist interest in sole traders and self-assessment tax returns, qualified to ICB level IV for self-assessment tax returns.

The team has grown and developed over the years, as most businesses do – with the management team now made up of Teresa and Laura.

There are now an amazingly skilled team of bookkeepers comprised of Jennie, Julie, Charlotte and Emma.

If you are looking for a professional, skilled, qualified, ICB certified and licenced and insured bookkeepers, then please do feel free to drop us a line at hello@nowaccounting.co.uk where we would be delighted to hear from you.

Laura Macarthy

Director
Now Accounting Services

Mobile: 07927 416043
Email: laura@nowaccounting.co.uk

Laura is a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB), with 13 years’ experience in hands on bookkeeping.

Her first endeavour into bookkeeping came about when there was a sudden vacancy in her ex-husband’s small family business. Deciding to give it a go, without any training or experience, she thought it was an easy case of ‘How hard can this be?’… She soon found out that it was a very real case of ‘Actually, quite hard!’

She soon became hooked by the numbers, working out customer and supplier accounts, chasing payments, having a realisation that profit doesn’t always equal positive cash flow, and guiding a small company through a recession to ensure survival at the end.

Since then, Laura has worked in several hands on bookkeeping roles, alongside working on her own freelance bookkeeping clients. She has also gained qualifications within both the ICB and the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT).

Laura has recently spent 4 years teaching accounting, teaching AAT up to level 3, having become a fully qualified teacher to PGCE level, whilst still maintaining her core bookkeeping skills with freelance bookkeeping clients.

Laura’s key strength is that she has been the business owner juggling financial pressures on a day to day basis. She has been the business owner pulling their hair out at ‘just how do these accounts work?’ Now she can sit on the same side as you, as your bookkeeper, to take away these stresses, and help you focus on what is important, growing your business.
